Milwaukee Piano Instructor
Originally from Romania, Catalin Iacob graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in piano performance from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, in May of 2020. He started studying piano at the age of seven in his native country where he pursued music classes all throughout high school. During that time, he attended many national and international piano competitions where he scored in the top three of each of them. Catalin came to the United States in 2013 to continue his education in music by enrolling in a master’s degree in collaborative piano and chamber music at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, under the coordination of Dr. Ilonka Rus. While studying there, he traveled and performed in the US, Europe and South America. In 2016, Catalin started his doctoral degree under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Dr. William Westney. While working on this degree, he was a teaching assistant at the TTU School of Music and was one of the main piano accompanists for the voice and instrumental departments, chamber groups, and large ensembles. He was also the winner of the TTU 2019 Piano Concerto Competition which awarded him the opportunity to perform Franz Liszt’s “Totentanz” with the TTU University Symphony Orchestra. From beginner to pro, Catalin loves teaching, inspiring and motivating students to find their passion for playing piano.
Catalin is currently offering piano lessons in Milwaukee and is accepting new students.
