David Jensen

Piano, Viola, and Violin Instructor

David Jensen is a violist, violinist, and pianist from Milwaukee. He began studying viola in the public schools of Brainerd, Minnesota under Leslie Zander and Grant Wilcox and piano under Joe Trucano and Cathy Taylor. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2016. During his undergraduate years, David studied viola with Kate Hamilton, a graduate of the Oberlin and Peabody conservatories, while simultaneously continuing his studies in piano with Amy Mercer and Jay Hershberger.

He particularly enjoys working with younger students, emphasizing a holistic approach toward music-making that cultivates a familiarity with music theory, ear training, and sight-reading in conjunction with an ergonomic, relaxed technique. His teaching underscores the importance of finding musical solutions for technical problems, and as an ardent enthusiast of chamber music, he encourages his students to make music with their peers and mentors as often as possible.
