Emily Allen offers cello instruction in the Madison area. She recently completed her Master of Music in Cello Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying performance and pedagogy with Uri Vardi. She has also studied with cellists Parry Karp of the Pro Arte Quartet and Leonardo Altino. While at UW, Emily was an instructor through the Community Music Lesson program. She currently teaches through Whitehorse Middle School’s Bearclaw Strings Academy and maintains a studio of private students on Madison’s west side.
Emily grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended the University of Louisville to study with cellist Paul York. She received her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance with a minor in Creative Writing.
Emily guides her students in developing a strong technical foundation, incorporating music theory and ear-training into lessons, while also encouraging her students to discover their unique musical voice. She is fortunate to get to learn with a diverse group of students and enjoys the array of goals, perspectives, and stories they bring to their lessons.
