Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, and Ukelele Instructor
Kevin Knapp is a freelance musician and educator living in Madison, WI. Beginning his music education with piano lessons and choir in elementary school, Kevin went on to study organ, violin, and soon after, electric bass and guitar. He became interested in music composition while in high school and was accepted at the Interlochen Summer Arts camp with an emphasis in composition. In his senior year, Kevin received the Chopin Award for piano performance. Kevin received his Bachelor’s of Music in Composition from the UW-Madison.
Having grown up in a home full of teachers (both his parents were math professors at UW-Whitewater and his older brother started teaching cello in high school), Kevin is passionate about music education. He enjoys meeting individual students’ needs while helping them explore the music of which they are truly a fan.
Kevin plays Hammond Organ and piano at SS Morris AME Gospel church, directs the SATB choir at Lake Edge UCC church, provides dance accompaniment at the UW Dance Department, and teaches music privately. He feels fortunate to spend most of his time performing as a multi-instrumentalist with a variety of world class Madison-area ensembles. He also thoroughly enjoys spending time with his family (including Murray, the cat), tending to his garden, and cooking.
